I assume you didn't take the extended warranty?

How long have you had the car? Assuming it's always been serviced at Skoda and serviced according to their schedule then if it;s a Skoda main dealer that's telling you it's a common fault then despite being ourside of warranty, I'd be contacting Skoda UK and arguing obviously the part was inherently faulty at the point of manufacture. II'd be asking would they consider contributing to the replacement cost a gesture of goodwill. If they say no, I'd then be contacting the supplying dealer and saying that you'll recoup the full costs of replacement via small claims.

If the car doesn't have a full main dealer service history then you're pretty much stuffed.

Had the same problem bought z replacement on line and fitted it myself. So easy to do 10min job and cost less than £20 How can they justify £200

 

Mine collapsed too last year, after constantly taking several attempts to start it

Don't believe so, it's just a straight swap and it should work.

Thanks for the YouTube link and guide to replacing the switch.
My 2017, 72k mile Kodiaq Start/Stop switch was not working properly - really annoying.
Got a new switch GBP £15 and watched the video guide. Replaced the switch myself in 30 minutes.
