registered here to let you know that we have the same issues in a german Kodiaq forum. We managed to record the noise, here's a video of it:

Everytime you see the red X you'll hear the grinding noise. No solution yet from the dealers, a few cases have been opened with Skoda though.

Hi,

Some updates on the subject:
Car has been at the dealer. Noise has been identified by the dealer, although they say "it is normal" and was already reported by other customers, mainly with VW Tiguan. Since I don't accept it as "normal", they have reported the case to the factory, or so they say.
I asked them to explain to me were the noise was coming from and why wasn't it there all the time, but they have no explanation.

I am now waiting for the answer from the factory.

It seems like an electrovalve coil . There is a lot of electrovalves regulating the cooling water flow , the steering wheel hydraulic fluid pressure etc.
I owned before a couple of years ago a Polo tsi. It made exact the same ckinking noise each 10 secs at idle .

No noise on idle or with ECO mode in inertia (disengaged with engine idling), so it has to come from gearbox or engine.

You can also trigger the noise by going in the 3rd gear and let go the gas pedal around 23-27 km/h. Same noise. But best to get it while turning left. Also, i figured it comes after you drove a little. Fresh out of the garage it doesn't do it

Yes, that sounds exactly like mine.
After some investigation, it seems like the same issue is happening with VW Tiguan and VW is well aware of the problem. Apparently the noise comes from the steering rack/box and VW is working on a fix. Currently, changing the steering only fixes the problem for 10.000km or less.

I think it has nothing to do with the steering it self. The audio I recorded above was while driving straight in 3rd gear with low rpm.

What we can do is put pressure on dealers to have our cars fixed and don't accept the noise as "normal".
We must continue to share all the information we have.

I have a very similar issue at low speeds, taking it in tomorrow for them to have a second look, only had the car a few weeks and if needs new parts I will reject the car.

Pretty quiet...assume they solved the problem..its seems every kodiaq is doing this noise...like mine...

In my case the problem isn't solved yet. After a DMF replacement, which made the noise a lot worse, many visits to the dealer and some videos sent to the factory, they analized the DSG oil and decided the gearbox must be replaced (at 10.000Km). Now waiting for the gearbox to arrive to see if the noise is gone.

Hi,

DSG gearbox was replaced and the noise got better, but not solved. At 19000km the noise got worst than ever and the dealer wanted to replace the gearbox again. I just replaced the Kodiaq with another brand SUV and will not buy another VAG product as long as I remember this.

Never experienced this on mine. 15 months old and a perfectly silent manual gearbox.

We have been in a legal dispute since august 2017 which has been frustrating to say the least. We echo your sentiments when you stated "will not buy another VAG product as long as I remember this"......The legal fight for justice continues!!

Two earlier posts by Kodiaqhu1 refer to a manual gearbox having this issue. 🤔

First time I have heard the noise issue reported on manual gearbox! :shock: If that is the case I stand corrected :?

I was of the belief that it was the DMF causing the noise which wouldn't have applied to a manual gearbox.

Anyone took a look on screws of the engine and/or gearbox mounts, are they tight enough?
