Cruise Control wouldn't come on

Hi all.

The last couple of weeks I've been having trouble with my Cruise Control.

Occasionally when I start the car, the CC doesn't come on even when I moved the buttons on the indicator stalk to 'on'. No joy even when I change it to 'cancel' and then back to 'on'
And nothing shows up on the screen, it shows the milage on my car instead whereas normally if it's working, I can see the CC icon.

On other days, I fire up the car and it would be fine, I can active it , no problem.

Just very odd.

Anyone else experienced this before I book it into the dealer ?

Thanks in advance!
James

If there really are no technical problems (lucky case), it is normal for it to behave like this. If the legal speed assistance is set, the cruise control is canceled, and when the traffic signs allow it, it increases the speed to the one we set. Also, when the cruise control sign on the dashboard turns gray, when the legal speed allows it, it is also the situation when I have to activate the cruise control again (I pull the left lever, the lower one, on the steering wheel. This is the case with my Skoda Kodiaq iV. Maybe it is the same with you, and your car has no problem. Read the car's user manual carefully, everything is clearly presented there.

So I had a strange one last weekend whilst I was travelling down to Cornwall to the mother-in-law's house with my trailer (a small 6' x 4' single axle one) - after I'd been driving for over 2 hours, I got two warnings that came on at the same time - ACC not available (and an orange cruise control symbol with an exclamation mark) and also a series of warnings telling me that the trailer lights weren't working, with each one in turn (check trailer left indicator, check right trailer indicator, check left brake light, check right brake light, etc.). That then threw up an orange light bulb warning at the bottom of the VC and an orange triangle at the top.

The warnings persisted until I got to where I was going, but then stopped the car, turned it off and restarted and all warnings cleared. Same thing happened the following day when I was going to the tip with the trailer. Whilst at the tip I did notice that the front of my car was pretty caked in salt from the roads as it had been frosty overnight, but still wet so there was lots of spray and I'd had to be using the windscreen washers regularly. Restarted the car and the problems had all gone away again, but then just before getting home (about 30 mins), the same warnings came back for a third time, all warnings being triggered at exactly the same time. When I got home, I got my bottle of speed detailer and a cloth, gave the centre portion of the grill where the ACC sensor is a wipe and hey presto, problem solved.

But I cannot for the life of me explain why the front sensor for the ACC being caked in road grime and salt crud would also throw up problems with the trailer lights. Does anyone have a theory as to why these would be related and both come on (more than once) at exactly the same time?

I’ve had the same issue on my 2020 Superb mklll Sportline Plus. 2.0 TDI 190PS DSG 7 speed. What doesn’t add up to me, is - if the horn doesn’t work because of a blown fuse, and then I turn the car off and back on again, and the ACC and horn now work, how is the fuse blown, if it now works…? A fuse can’t UN-blow itself…

Hi, yes - so far so good.

Whilst at dealers they also mentioned that it can be caused due to low voltage in the battery. Which could theoretically explained that sometimes after a short drive and you restart the car it works.

Although it does seem like a blow fuse in my case

Thought this might be worth noting as it was mention to me.

All the best!

*Update*

Went to dealership today.
10mins later, guy came out and said all sorted - replaced the fuse for the horn.

So far, its working (both horn and cruise control)

Let see how this goes after a couple of weeks of start/stop.

Oh - for those interested is was fuse #15 found in the engine compartment.
Hi.
Did the fuse replacement solve the problem?

Hi mate, thanks for the response.
I have standard cc

Yes, j have tried it on the 'off' and then engine off, start up and moved to 'on' - nothing.

The cc symbol doesn't show up when it's not working.

When the symbol is display on the bottom corner, then everything works fine.

I've tried it again today, and nothing, no symbol no cruise control 😞

Will have to book into Skoda this weekend me think.

Assuming you have the standard CC and not ACC (which has a separate stalk for the cruise lower than the left indicator stalk), then have you tried turning it to OFF rather than just CANCEL using the button A on the diagram from the manual below? It is sprung from CANCEL back to ON but will 'click' to OFF and stay there if you push it to the right.

When it's not working, do you get the little cruise symbol at the bottom left of the dash display with an exclamation mark next to it? That's also mentioned in the manual on page 239.
