I have a 2017 Kodiak, 1.4 petrol 4wd. I'd like to get a tow bar fitted but I'm not sure which variety I need as some fitters have warned it will interfere with the reverse parking sensors. Can anyone advise which tow bar can be fitted without triggering the sensors?

Thanks
I've had a Brink detachable fitted last week for £535 with dedicated electrics and coded to the car. Mine is a 190 2.0TDI though and doesn't need any of the extras for the cooling etc that some seem to need.
Towbar prep is an available option on the Skoda configurator for the 2.0 TDI 190PS 4x4 DSG. It doesn't say what it includes but then it didn't for my 1.5 TSI.

Yeah, I didn't have that factory order option unfortunately, second hand for me!
I did see something somewhere that said the 190TDI didn't need any extra cooling, perhaps the towbar prep is just running wiring etc?

UPDATE 18th June.
So far I've spoken with Skoda UK twice, they have recommended that I get a fixed, not removable, tow bar but they still haven't been able to tell me (I'm waiting for another call) if the tow bar with a flange plate will/will not trigger the reverse parking sensors. Can anyone give a definitive answer to this? It seems ridiculous that Skoda cant actually tell me!

My first Kodiaq had a removable towbar with a square flange like this. Didn't trigger the parking sensors. It was a factory approved towbar, so basically engineered and manufactured in NZ to Skoda's requirements.

I had a towbar fitted on my 2.0 TSI last week from a third party. It included the required 7 pin electrics. I asked him about the towbar prep and he just laughed, said it was nothing more than clever marketing and cash leaving your pocket. It wasn't something he'd need or use in the fitting of a towbar.

Purely out of interest, did you find out if upgrading your cooling system was a requirement for towing with your engine ?
I had a towbar fitted to my 2.0 TSI and just assumed that no upgrades would be needed. I sold my caravan before I used the car for towing, so I never did find out if upgrades were necessary. I have a small trailer I can tow, but that's not going to strain the system.

No I didn't. I 'presumed' nothing should be needed for the 2.0 given its already the bigger engine. Also my towing is pretty lightweight - mainly bike racks and possibly small trailers

I had a Brink fixed swan neck towbar fitted to my 2018 190TDI. It didnt have any special towbar prep. never had any problems towing a 1450Kg caravan. The oil temperature runs slightly higher but stays constant so not a problem. If wired correctly it turns off the reversing sensors when coupled to a trailer and doesnt cause any problems solo.
