Rear window discoloration

Post by mrgud » Fri Mar 06, 2020 12:30 pm

Good afternoon,

Kodiq is my first car with rear window wiper.
But recently it gain some discoloration on rear window.
Is this normal?

Front windshield is clean, so it is not from cleaning fluid.

Also, wife's Karoq (from 2017, one of first cars manufactured) is having similar issue.
Even worse, as entire window is covered.
And rear door paint below window start to fade.

In Skoda service they say it is first case that they had.
As probable cause they said it is rust from rear wiper hand (some heater inside).

I've had loads of cars with rear wipers but never seen that before - what are you using as washer fluid? How do you clean the car? Does a fine cutting compound (NOT T-cut) bring the paint finish back?
