Blind spot monitor boot-up time

Post by andrazk » Fri Jul 13, 2018 12:12 pm

When I start the engine and put in reverse, my rear camera fires up and all the proximity sensors "bars" are drawn on the screen in approx couple of seconds, fast enough to be of use.

My rear facing radars for blind spot monitoring are supposed to help with safety when reversing but I see two dark grey areas (depicting the blind spot radar monitoring areas) on the infotainment screen only after 10 seconds or so. Which means, I assume, they are not functional before that? Did try to test this and got no alert when people were walking behind the car - until the grey areas appeared, when immediately they turned red and an audible alert was triggered.

To summarise, blind spot monitors are not working for the first 10 seconds or so after switching on the engine? Really, Škoda?
Can anybody help with their findings?
