Are there any difference in look between the two units that would help me identify what I have?

Definitely have the Columbus unit with the DVD slot.

Amundsen is the entry level system, Columbus is on the higher level models including the Sportline.
It's a 'Kodiaq' and not a 'Bear' unless you are 5 years old.

I know that, my SEL has the Columbus.
