Reading up on things while I wait for delivery.

Post by Daddy Pig » Thu Oct 26, 2017 7:48 am

Hi All

Whilst I wait for my Kodiaq I thought I'd have a browse through some posts and make notes, here's a list of what I've come across so far and hoping to find that I can do these on mine when it arrives:

Led lights - Travel mode, I often pop over to France and Germany to see relatives, it will save me buying those annoying stickers
Enable the DVD player - For my wife on long journeys or while stuck in traffic
Ambient lighting - I wonder what colour/s - quite fancy blue
Google Street View
Sat Nav Active Traffic
Sat Nav switch to proper mode - what ever that is
Voice enhancement for people at the back
Radio station logos
Connect App Warmer
Kodiaq Wi-Fi
Columbus slide show
Digital display MPH
The type of memory card it uses and playlists
Adding Speed Cameras to Sat Nav
Left dipping mirror
Umbrella holder
Bin Holder

If I've missed a trick or two please let me know

Regards

Dave

I would get too excited about Google Street View. The Google Earth overlay works just fine. Street View not at all...

Hi.

you've bought yourself a great family vehicle, chock full of technology... but you missed the single feature that every safe, family orientated person wants...

You forgot Launch Control.....

Depends on how quickly you want to wreck the transmission!! :(

Is there still a launch control counter on the ECU?

I know Audi models with DSG/S-Tronic/Whatever have this, and if you go above the limit, bye bye warranty.

It doesn't. I had it on a 3.2L quattro TT years ago. The combination of 4WD and a lot more torque put far more stress on the transmission when launching and it doesn't have any negative impact (unlike the old M3's system which was limited use).

More to the point, I didn't realise the Kodiaq had it enabled? I've a few DSG cars now and not many of them actually had it.

Simply STOOPID of Skoda IMHO!
What IS the point on an SUV???
If you want a sports car, buy a sports CAR not a Sports LORRY!

Thank you all for the comments.

Google earth I'll give it a go and launch control when I'm alone just to see what it is like.

Could you let me know what size Sim card size is needed (standard, micro or mini), I've got one from BT that gives 20gb per month for data, hoping this will do the trick.

Cheers

@Colin, It does seem a bit odd on an SUV, but you don't have to use it. It was a bit of a giggle on the TT.

With the DSG managing the shifts and Quattro almost guaranteeing no wheelspin it gave you perfect, repeatable traffic light getaways meaning you could embarrass almost anything that wasn't trying super-hard (obviously used responsibly and lifting off before the speed limit!).

I haven't tried it yet in the Kodiaq, but with only FWD it'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm guessing that with the ASR turned off it's going to chew tyres much more quickly than clutches...
