I don't think I'll be trying the emergency EPB any time soon!
I think that in the situation I outlined, you'd likely be trying to save your own life as well as that of the driver, so you probably would use it if you had the opportunity. Difficult to know unless faced with the actual situation.

Obviously if the situation arose. I meant I am not going to try it just to see what happens. i:e a 'dress rehearsal'.

I tried it inadvertantly when the Kodiaq was new and I was pulling up at traffic lights. I did what I used to do in the Superb and pulled the parking brake on when still doing about 5 mph. Kodi locked the back wheels and jerked me and my passenger forward violently. The car behind got a shock. I've learned not to do it again! 😲😲😲 (Except in an emergency of course!)

Thankfully for all those wondering what would happen if you pulled the electronic handbrake whilst travelling at motorway speed, thankfully you don't need to test it on your own car as those nice people at Top Gear's Extra Gear programme tested it for you in a Golf R. Seeing as that's a VAG product (and the Kodiaq is essentially based on the same platform) then I'm 100% sure it would operate in exactly the same way.

Ok, so this is Top Gear, so "motorway speed" isn't exactly the same speed you or I would be doing, but at least it's pretty reassuring how it would behave.

"Who would have thought that the brake stops the car!"
"The Germans have thought of everything, haven't they?"

Looks quite sedate and somewhat underwhelming. Colin should give it a go as he needs a new car, he’s had that one at least a month.
It's a 'Kodiaq' and not a 'Bear' unless you are 5 years old.
