Tow Bar

Post by Mark&Kate » Thu Jul 15, 2021 3:41 pm

I have just been quoted £1150 by Skoda to have a tow bar fitted with one issue. They are not available at the moment!

Does anyone know why they are not available or of any alternatives please?
Ordered: 24/02/21 Kodiaq SE L (7 seats) 1.5 TSI 150 PS DSG Quartz Grey. Extras: Panoramic Sunroof, LED pack, Heated Steering Wheel, Trigav Alloys, Spare wheel, Dog Guard, Bumper Protection, Boot Liner.
Build Week: 13.

Sounds like your dealer is being a bit rubbish - I'd try ringing around other dealers in your area to find out if they can do it and at what price.
Either that or an after-market one fitted by somebody independent, although I'd then always worry about the affect on warranty - should be none, but it does give Skoda some wriggle room if you subsequently get electrical gremlins in the car!

Makes the factory fit electrically deployable one look extremely good value at £910 though...

Hi Mark and Kate
I had to buy another Kodiaq Scout a couple of weeks ago after my first one was written off after a collision with an oncoming drunk (allegedly!) driver....
The first one had a Witter detachable swan neck towbar fitted after purchase and delivery, I've now had a Brink detachable swan neck towbar fitted for £780 including VAT
They have coded the electrics so (for example) the parking sensors aren't activated when a caravan is attached and you reverse
If you're towing a caravan and are a member of the Caravan Club I think they have a 10% discount offer for either a Witter or Westfalia towbar at the moment
(Buy online and enter the code CAMC17TB at the checkout)

I tow a 1700kg caravan and the Kodiaq is fine, never had any issues

The last Skoda i had, a Superb, I had one fitted at a local towbar installer, I think it was around the £500 mark. But I had to go back to the main dealer to get the electrics re-mapped, another £200, special price, as i had just bought the car new , paid cash.
The Kodiaq i mhave now came with a electric tow bar fitted. However, if you are towing a caravan as i do, you need a full size spare wheel. The superb had one, but the Koriaq doesnt, so when i use the van, i have to carry it in the boot, as it doesnt fit into the spare wheel well, thats the only down i have.
