It would be neat if it was a sliding door, but it's not, it's hinged. And a cumbersome one at that.

And that metal(?) cantilever bar looks like a hard object to impact the hip area in a side impact.

Also only one cantilever bar. How is that going to stand up to flexing when someone uses the open door for support?

I agree with all your comments,
It's not something I would entertain.
God knows what it costs. As I said in the title "If you need it", but I can't think of any reason to be honest.

Can't see any point at all! It would seem to compromise rear passenger safety in a side impact on that steel beam, and access to the rear seat doesn't seem to have been improved either. So to my mind the only gain is a powered rear door??
Previously owned an Octavia L&K 2.0TDI, currently driving a Golf SV, but now have a Race Blue Karoq Sportline 2.0TSI on order! :)
