1.5tsi Which DSG?

Post by Westie5 » Fri Aug 07, 2020 2:52 pm

Does anyone know for sure what DSG box will be fitted to the 2021 1.5tsi models which I believe entered production at the factory last month?

I know historically VAG have used the DQ200 7-speed dry clutch on their lower output engines but given that VW started replacing this with the DQ381 7-speed wet clutch on their 1.5tsi Tiguans last year, was just wondering if Skoda were now using the DQ381 too?

Try this link:
https://cdn.skoda-storyboard.com/2016/0 ... Q-en-2.pdf

Page 1 has the petrol 1.5TSi options, either manual (first), DSG FWD or DSG 4x4.

Both of the latter two state that the clutch is a wet multi-plate clutch, so that says DQ381 to me as the DQ200 is a dry clutch.

Could be wrong of course...

Brilliant - thanks.

Yes, all VAG information could be taken with a pinch of salt at times, but what encourages me about the sheet you supplied is it says it's the same 7-speed wet transmission fitted to the 2.0tsi. So yeh, either DQ500 or as you suggest, and I'd agree with, the DQ381.

We have the DQ200 fitted on the Karoq so it'll be interesting to compare the two as each car will have the same 1.5tsi.

Cheers.

From the same source, this is the equivalent datasheet for the Karoq, which states on page 2 that it's a dry clutch for the 1.5TSI DSG, so would agree that it's a DQ200 gearbox in the Karoq, except for the 4x4 version, which has a wet clutch, so likely to be DQ381. DQ200 is FWD only afaik:

Hmm.

Colin, it seems last year you were certain your Karoq had the DQ381...
https://www.karoqforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=464

DQ500 is rated up to 600NM, which seems a bit overkill for the 1.5TSI which only has 250NM...

Then again, you have a diploma in automotive engineering, so I would always bow to your superior knowledge (and it's your car after all!)

I'm gussing it's relatively easy to figure out what gearbox your car has because on the configuration label, it will have...

DQ200 - code 0AM or 0CW

DQ381 - code 0GC

DQ500 - code 0BH or 0BT

Scratch, Well remembered! I was wrong ! (Enjoy that.... It's quite rare for me to admit I'm wrong )
I did a bit more research and through the tangled web of info I am led to believe that the 4wd gets the 500 box.
Skoda change things so frequently without telling the plebs (customers) that even thet may be wrong!
