Thanks again. Just when I thought I’d decided on the 775 and wingbar evo and then another options comes up. Wingbar edge ... not sure if these need separate feet or not....more research. 8-)

Trouble with the Edge is that, whilst looking neater, you'll be more restricted if you ever want to carry a wider load.
Whilst it doesn't apply to you, in my case where I carry canoes, having the widest bars I can legally fit is a godsend at times. Just a thought :)

I’ve got the edge on my Passat. Looks super good, but as old man said, big loss of load width. Your widths for the front and back will be different too, and for me it was a royal pain getting my ski rack to fit straight.

My Evo wingbars are also permanently affixed. Why take them off - they make no noise and if they make a difference to mpg it's miniscule.
Always handy if you're away from home and you spot something large that you fancy and want to bring it home .

Think you should be saying gigantic instead of large.. The Kodiaq could probably fit a Kodiak bear in it easy!

Yes I know. I was probably thinking 8' X 4' plywood sheets at the time as I'm thinking of getting some.

I'd also have great difficulty getting a 16' canoe inside the car if I came across one I liked whilst away from home :D

Aerodynamic roof bars (wingbars) are definitely the way to go. It is noisy during certain motorway drives, but certainly not as noisy as the non aerodynamic ones.

I have Thule Wing bars in black on my Sportline 2.0TSI, no idea what the foot number is, but they are straps which wrap around the roof bars. I can also confirm that you can open/tilt the sunroof when a roof box is fitted. Can't be arsed to keep taking them off so they stay on all the time.
