Wheel hub corrosion

Post by Huntspill101 » Mon Feb 04, 2019 5:42 pm

My Kodiaq is 6 months old and I have noticed that the wheel hubs are showing signs what appears to be rust coming through the silver paint on the edge near the brake disc. Has anyone else noticed this problem and if so is it something the dealer will fix under warranty or will it be classed as "cosmetic"

Is it rust “comng through”, or is it powder from the brake discs, that has then rusted? See if it can be scrubbed off.

That looks like rust coming through, it is the bell of the disc brake and expected to corrode with time. I would imagine there is no spec against it from a design point.

My Kodiaq is now 10 months old and no sign of this "rust".

That looks like brake pad 'detritus' to me that has gone rusty.

You could try some CarPro Iron-X or Autoglym Magma and see if that shifts it?

I used Iron-x to clean wheels and its removed all this silver paint from brake calippers...actually saw this...everything turned white like boiling with little bubles. And ofcourse its bad for wheel hub aswell :(
