Anyone else have a broken Emergency Call System?

My kodiaq 7 days old and already broken at day 5. Every couple miles I get a voice play through the speakers telling me "an error has occurred Emergency Call System please contact customer services".. which is pretty annoying.. If you wanna be broken be broken.. don't keep whining at me about it. The light above goes from green to red and orange triangle warning on dash. Its going back Monday anyway for fitting rear reverse camera.. if they can. They didn't give much confidence 1day has turned into 3 days as they have not done one before. Hoping it's not going to be one of those cars that lives at the dealers more than my house.

Joking aside, search the forums using keyword "SOS".
You'll find lots of people with the same problem. I think all took it back to their dealers and had it fixed.
They may already have seen a Kodiaq with the same problem and will know what to look for. Otherwise SUK can provide guidance. It seems a reasonably common problem.

Hi
Also had the same problem one week after delivery.I have Vag diagnostic tool so i was able to pinpoint the problem with the anntena(open circuit).
For the dealership was the first of a kind problem so the car stayed for one week in the garage.Eventually after trying updating software they changed anntena and no more problems with emergency call.

I also had it, for all 3 call buttons.
Dealer sorted it after 3 attempts whilst I waited. He said it was a problem with the sim card.
Once fixed it gave no more trouble for the 18 months I owned it.

Hi Phil.. I added to the options on a new car order. They said they would fit it prior to delivery. But then said they had to do it afterwards. From memory it cost an extra 6-8 pm as I finance my car on pcp. £300 sounds familiar but i might be wrong. I'm taking it tomorrow. I'll try and find out what the cash price is.

Got exactly the same annoying SOS fault and would disable the stupid thing if I could.
Will get dealer to look at it during the first service which is coming up shortly - sometimes more tech just causes more problems!

That's one reason I changed to a Karoq. Less tech, No stupid call buttons, no leccy tailgate a much simpler, more responsive car. Only downside is that I am back to the Yeti hard suspenders, but with improved road holding. Much more 'Chuckable than it's big brother and the 1.5 engine is more economical (could be the weight differential of course!)

More importantly I'll let you know how long they keep it ! I've lost my car for 3 days already. I'd ask your dealer if they have done one before first. Mine hasn't.

Yes, mines showing a fault with the message 'Emergency Call Restricted' and the amber warning triangle. I'm not exactly sure what this means as I haven't tried it or needed it. However, I do have a green light next to the red emergency button. I won't be making a special trip to the dealer but wait for the 1st service in about 3 months time.

UPDATE SOS button still broken and butting into my music and sat nav directions every 2-3 miles to tell me its broken.
Does anyone technical know which relay or fuse to pull out to make it shut up?? I can't be doing with the hassle of leaving at dealers for days again for nothing. mucho appreciated

My 18 plate Edition had the SOS (Emergency Call System) fault.

The fault was the subject of a recall (Skoda call them something different 'Campaign' maybe) for early 2017 builds. In my case the problem was identical and easily traced to a multi-pin connector where one or more pins were misaligned and connecting intermittently. Dealership confirmed this could only have occurred at initial assembly. Repaired under warranty no bother.

Car booked in to Simpsons of Preston on 19th Nov to have this annoying SOS fault and the disappearing DAB presets looked into. Was going to leave until first service as I am approaching 12,000miles but lease company say first service is 18,000 or 2 years......so in it goes just for these two annoying faults.
Will see what Simpsons have to say about them.

2017 cars sometimes had a problem with SOS buttons. Mine was down to a wonky sim card. Dealt with by dealer under warranty.
Service books.
Very few manufacturers have service books these days, all details held on dealer/SUK computer,
Car will tell you when it wants a service if set up properly on PDI. if it hasn't screamed 'service required' by 10 K miles or 12 months do it anyway.
Like you I don't keep cars long. Kodiaq was overdue at 18 months but I loved it so much in spite of all the niggling faults, I kept it longer than usual.
Don't tell anybody but the Karoq is even better than it's big brother. ;)

Back from the dealers AGAIN who have again kept my car all day and gave back to me saying they have done nothing, can find no faults, and they say there are no records of the SOS faults.. even though the audio alarm voice now goes off more than ever - likely 300-400 times in the few weeks i've owned it telling me its broken and to take to service centre. Its very loud- louder than the radio and always startles me when I've driving because they make it sound like something really dangerous is about to happen- just the poxy sos alarm again !! grr Sometimes goes off 2-3 times per mile!!!!!!!! They could use my car in Guantanamo Bay it would be more effective than water boarding. Now they've got me trying to capture it on film while driving which is illegal. Managed to set up camera without needing to handle it. Should be easy to capture!. It's BS that they can't just believe me. Their reason being "we wouldn't know what to fix without the car logging the error". Well thats BS too as even if I film it my iPhone isn't going to log the damn error on the car! Gonna hit Skoda with a section 75 for the full value of the car faster than they can say VW if not sorted next time I take it in. Anybody know how to talk sense to them??

RE: wow @sparkymark. 18k miles or 2 years before first service?? I didn't get a service book my my new car. Dealers say they don't do them anymore so am unaware of when it's meant to go in. I rarely keep a car that long.
Ended up not taking the car in due to work & stuff, so will have to wait for the 18K service to be looked at.
I agree with recent comment about how distracting this fault is....it booms out of the speakers far louder than the radio and always startles me. Skoda need to pull their finger out with this one before someone stoves their car in to the back of something whilst distracted.....if I could disable the stupid unnecessary SOS system I would.

Strange .. I have the fault which shows up on the maxi-dot at start and occasionally reminds me with a 'ping' mid journey and the orange warning triangle is on permanently. However, the light next to the overhead 'red button' is always on green, and I have never once heard a verbal warning from the speakers despite the radio being on all the time.

If the light is green, it should be working. What does the maxidot message say?
The warning triangle is for any fault, not just the SOS.

"SOS Emergency Call Restricted" and 'SOS Fault' next to the warning triangle.

Very strange that the green light is still on., Trip to dealer methinks!
good luck.

I'm facing this exact problem though the warning and beep is only once few seconds to starting the car. The yellow triangle remains but no beeps or alerts thereafter.

Car's booked for service tomorrow. Will update how it goes.

they will either tell you they have reset it, or say there is nothing wrong. The will basically just wash your car and give it back in the same faulty condition. Mine went in on wednesday for a 2nd time and was told its fine    . Heres the proof from today that says different.. 5 ****ing time it went off just in one short trip to asda less tahn 2 miles.
