I just finishing installing a towbar to my Kodiaq which came with towbar preparation
You are going to tow with a 1.4 TSI?
1.4 TSI with 150hp, that's turbo + compressor and they can tow. I do not really plan to tow a caravan though. Just a trailer with mountain bikes mostly.

Um it was a while back so I can't really remember but I just checked the label on the remobeable bit and it said ACS systems. That probably doesn't help much though because that might just be the actual ball part...

Hi I just found the ebay receipt and it says the brand is Auto-HAK, which would match those currently available on ebay from other sellers and the downloadable instructions they have in their adverts match the ones I used, so I guess it;s the same.

Right, my bad, that was a memories from older VW engines.

Still, 150hp TSI should be marginally better than 150 hp TDI in torque at wheels as soon as you reach 2nd gear. No?

Yes, but that's at the engine level, not the wheels. Because you have to factor in the longer gears of the TDI, to reduce pollution, and in the end you get the same torque vs speed, more or less, at the wheels level. With TDI higher wheel torque in 1st gear and TSI at higher speed.

The Skoda towbar connector comes with 4 slots (the connector hanging on the right on the picture below):

So this is the command for an auto-folding towbar. The towbar connector is on the left side of the car.
