Drivers door not opening from inside the car.

Happy new year to everyone.

I am new to this forum and not really too sure how they work but here goes.

My drivers door won't open from the inside but will still opens from the outside. Has anyone else had the same problem and know what causes it.

Not that uncommon a fault across most of VAG's products I'm afraid. Not sure about other manufacturers though.

I had similar on both the passenger door of my A5 and also the rear door of my wife's old VW Touran.

My advice would be that if the car is less than 3 years old, then it should be a warranty issue. If you're out of warranty then take it to an independent VAG specialist, who will be able to fix it for you for less than your local Skoda dealer.

The only other point would be don't ignore it and just live with it. The independent place that fixed my wife's Touran did say that they'd seen a few where the initial symptoms were that it wouldn't open from the inside handle, but then the outside handle became intermittent as well. If that then fails completely, it's a case of drilling into the door from the inside, which becomes both messy and very expensive!
