Another suggestion...

Post by Pjmartin » Mon Mar 26, 2018 12:06 pm

I thought I'd suggest another possible development / section for the forum...

A Garage / DIY section, one where people can post 'How to guides' on fitting various different parts on their vehicles i.e. fitting the Rcechip XLR throttle response modification etc.

I'm not sure about this..... It might just lead to some people doing things to their cars which other people imitate and which in actual fact causes implications to either warranty or insurance. Such as the recent discussion about fitting aftermarket wheels and previously ECU chipping or re-mapping. Both of which seem innocuous, but in fact, as far as I am aware, are a no-no on both insurance and warranty angles.
Let's see what others think.

I can see your point, was thinking more along the lines of repairs rather than modifications.
After all, anything tackled by the owner is at their own risk anyway, so that should be naturally accepted but there might be certain things or even a few short cuts that could potentially be shared that are actually of use?

Topics like such can easily be put in the Technical area of the forum. Regarding what Colin said about the implications - people posting DIY guides just need to stipulate what can go wrong. I have no problem with people posting guides on e.g. fitting mud flaps, installing towbars etc. and I think we just need to take a pragmatic approach and it'll be fine.
