Snow Chains on 18" wheels

My Kodiaq Style came with 18" wheels and is on summer tyres. Where I live in Czech Republic we need to have winter tyres fitted from November and possibly use snow chains on some roads. The Kodiaq manual states that snow chains can only be fitted to 17" wheels and tyre size 215/65 R17 (attached screenshot)

Any opinion on the what risk/cons there would be to buy thinner winter tyres that meet the same overall dimensions? The sales person at the dealership said this would be fine, but would like other opinions.

I would rather not buy a whole set of new wheels.

A suitable topic for nearly the hottest dat of the year!

I am a fairly oldschool guy, and, as such, did not want to take the risk that the warranty gets void. Thus, we went for a full set of steel rims fitted with good winter tyres all to the factory specs. They do not look so nice but work well (there was no need to fit the snow chains though).
