I'd go with you on a manual tailgate. It is just a gimmick I could well do without. I had one on my Mitsu PHEV and of course that worked perfectly.
Shame Skoda has to make a dogs breakfast of something that all others make work perfectly.

Try resetting the tailgate memory by putting it at the highest position and holding the button on the tailgate for 3 seconds

Re: Boot opening/closing problems anyone?
Mine is scheduled to go into service for 3rd time in a week or so for this (plus many other problems now).
They’ve already apparently sorted a glitch with the computer the first time. Second time I was told it was a problem with the boot motor so that was replaced... was okay for a few weeks and back to square one again.
Now it’s not opening properly again, or just opening on its own when the key is away in a faraday pouch. I came back from putting a trolley away last week to the boot fully open for anyone to run off with anything g from inside my car. Super! I can’t belivee we’re back to square one again.
The other faults are crazy too - issues with the oil service notifications going off, radio resetting itself and everything lost, car not locking properly, car sensors all going besetk for no reason, tyre pressure indicators going off when tyre pressure acceptable. The car is driving me nuts. Don’t get me wrong, I love the car, it’s a great family car but the technical faults and issues are beyond belief.
Plus is anyone else peeved that when they do this work it’s only covered under a three month warranty when it’s had issues from day one - it should be covered under the initial warranty again! It’s not my fault it was faulty from purchase! My warranty on the boot should remain untouched.

Is this a known fault with the actual car itself then that we all need to worry about and keep an eye on or not, I'm confused.Alan Chapple wrote: ↑Sat Jul 21, 2018 5:36 pmSo just to confirm, it's not a problem with the car/tailgate as such, it's more inadvertently pressing the 'boot open' button on the key fob somehow?
Or am I missing something else?

Don’t understand this 3 month warranty you are referring to ? Are you saying a fault repaired under warranty during the first year of ownership is only covered for the next 3 months and not years 2 or 3 ? That cannot be right.

I'm with the Prof. That has to be rubbish. Somebody is yanking your chain! Who told you ? Take it up with SUK Customer service. The car has a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. so if something keeps going wrong it must be covered for repeated repair/replacements.
Frankly if my car was a badas 'Fedup....' I would return it ti the dealer as unfit for purpose, which I believe you can do after the dealer has attempted a repair and it did not cure the problem. How long have you had the car?

Re: Boot opening/closing problems anyone?
been to dealers today for first oil change. while there asked them to check the boot open and closure.Jonnoa wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 2:45 pmThe only problem I have had is sometime it will not closes on the remote despite the lights flash so it is getting a signal. Sometimes it can be 2-3 days of not working then everything is ok for several weeks, have tested with all remotes as does the same with all of them so it is not a remote issue.
Have not got to the bottom of it yet.
The problem i am having is if the keys are in my pocket and the boot opening button on the fob gets pressed while im away from the car, like the other day i was in the house and the fob got pressed it opened the boot but unknown to me till i happend to look out of the bedroom window and saw it was open. so i tried to close the boot from the bedroom window and it would not close.
this has append a few time and the only way to get the boot to close is virtually stand next to the boot and press the button on the fob. which is defeating the object might as well press the button on the boot.
While at the dealers got the technician to try it, we stood in the show room about 15 meters away and the boot opened then told him to try closing it and it wouldn't close we had to go out to the car and virtually stand next to the car then it would close. So he checked the instruction manual it says should work up to 30 meter away if not could need new battery, so he changed battery tried again and still wouldn't close from inside the show room.
so problem still not fixed going to have to wait now while he contacts tech support to see if there is a solution to this.
Wounded if anyone has had same issue and it got fixed, or could someone try opening and closing their boot from some distance see if theirs works and let me know, if it does i got some ammo when i return to dealers.
The main doors work ok they open and close from a distance its just the boot has a problem.

Join the club!
I didn't think you were able to close the boot with the fob (for safety reasons?) Mine has NEVER done so even from day one.
Most times It opens on the fob ok but others it opens about a foot and stops. Press and hold and it sometimes open another foot and then stops again, then 9/10 that's it. I have to either lift it up manually or press the door button to close it and then press the handle to open it. what a FAFF! I cannot understand what Skoda's problem is with their electronic systems. My Mitsu PHEV electric boot worked faultlessly.
Perhaps Skoda should consider opening a plant in Japan. At least they might be more reliable then.
What a shame we can't buy one of these in the U.K.

Tried this on mine and found same thing ie long press on fob boot opens but long press again and it will only close if you are close to car. Perhaps a safety feature to reduce chance of closing boot when someone underneath ?steve1k wrote: ↑Thu Aug 23, 2018 8:03 pmbeen to dealers today for first oil change. while there asked them to check the boot open and closure.Jonnoa wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 2:45 pmThe only problem I have had is sometime it will not closes on the remote despite the lights flash so it is getting a signal.
