Hi everyone,

I got delivery of my new Kodiaq last week. 2.0l diesel 150bhp DSG mid trim. Happy so far but…

I just noticed the rear wheel arch lining is made of the type of soft hairy stuff you’d find in the boot area. Doesn’t seem waterproof or up to winter driving conditions.

Just texted a friend who got a new Kodiaq a couple of weeks ago and they have the same lining on the rear wheels also. The front wheel arches are lined with the usual light plastic material.

Will contact the dealer after the bank holiday weekend but just wondering is this normal?

The dealer was there this morning and confirmed that all the newer Kodiaqs have this finish.
Don’t think the 2018 Kodiaq that I traded was like this. Definitely looks like a less robust effort on the new car. Anyone else notice this change?

I had something similar on 2x Ford SMax’s a while back and can’t say I had any problems. I think the idea is to reduce wheel spray. Not sure if the Skoda version is exactly the same, but the Ford always cleaned up ok with a pressure wash after being exposed to all the muck and sh-t that we get on Scottish country roads around our way. To be quite honest I was never that bothered with what went on under the wheel arches anyway.
