Hello, my name is Rob, been a Yeti owner for the last 7 years and about to upgrade to a 69 plate Kodiaq Scout with 8596 miles on the clock. Previously had two Octavia's so kind of loyal to the badge. I hope to get information and enjoyment from the knowledge within the group.
Thanks

How do I post about an issue I have with Skoda? Finally someone has had the decency to reply.
I was under the impression that I would have got this mail Thursday last week but it kind off sums up the customer service level Skoda has bearing in mind I had to go via social media to get anyone's attention. Your staff whom ever the manager was in your Cambridge branch wasn't helpful in anyway. He was ignorant, arrogant and rude.
Events leading to this:

-on 13th Feb on my way home from work I hit a kerb traveling around 30-36mph and the airbags deployed. Both sides overhead airbag and passenger seat airbag deployed.
Damage to exterior = front wheel slight damage and rear tyre has bubble. I was travelling on my own and nobody was in passenger seat. I don't understand why the airbags have deployed as I used to have an BMW X5 and I had hit the kerb numerous times and never have I experienced the airbags to be deployed. I understand the airbags are a safety feature but for the front passenger seat airbag to deploy when no one is seated there is dumb found to me.

-15th Feb I contact Skoda customer service and was told it would be best to speak to my local dealership. She ask for my postcode in which I gave her (CB11 4LT which is elmdon and not far from saffron Walden and Cambridge. She comes back to me and says the closest branch is Colchester!? So I told her my closest would be Cambridge branch. She then comes back to say is Milton Keynes closer?? What when I've already told her my closest branch is Cambridge, what world is she on???

-i ring your Cambridge branch and spoke to a lady named Katie. I told her what had happened and she said that she would have to have the vehicle in to take a look and there are two options I have. 1. they can collect the car and have a look but cannot provide courtesy car at present.
2. Ring Skoda roadside assistance and they will recover the car and supply me with courtesy car.

I was advised that option would be faster. So I hang up and ring roadside assistance only to be told that the vehicle can be recovered but no courtesy vehicle will be provided.
So I ring your Cambridge branch again and asked for Katie, a gentleman answered, he ignored my request and kept asking questions in the meantime refusing to locate Katie. So I hung up and rang again, this time I managed to get through to Katie and she said that it was her mistake and roadside assistance was correct. She then said that I could transfer me to her manager to see what could be done and ask me to hold in which I did and then got cut off. I rang again having been cut off and asked for Katie, I was told she was busy and he would send an email to Katie for her to call me. Well this was swift and she called me back within 5mins. When I answered her call she asked how I had got on with the manager, so I told her that I haven't spoke to him yet and was cut off. She then transferred me to him and this was his response:
"On inspection off the vehicle you would have to bring it in...."
I asked him how he came to that conclusion? His reply
"All I can say is that having inspected the vehicle you would have to bring it in"
So I asked him if none of your people has seen the car how can you make that comment? He just said from inspection of vehicle you would have to bring it in!
Obviously I wasn't getting through to him and said nowonder your company is shit and he just hung up.
NOT THE KIND OF SERVICE YOU EXPECT FROM A BLUE CHIP COMPANY, it's the kinda of service you expect from you local takeaway when they,'ve messed your order up and don't want to resolve it.

- That call irritated me so much I decided enough was enough and decided to take action via social media to which I'm told I would be contacted within 48hours only for that NOT TO HAPPEN and for you to say if I don't get back to you in 3days you will close the case??? When it's taken you almost a week to contact me???

So in light of that tell me would you look to buy a Skoda? Would you recommend it??
I'll have to say NO.

So what's your problem?

It seems people are trying to help you, but you are insisting it MUST be on your terms.

And if anyone is being offensive and rude it would appear to be YOU.

Get Skoda Assist to recover the car to the dealership.

The dealership can't be expected to advise you on a repair until they have inspected the car.

It's hard luck about the lack of a courtesy car, but probably just as well if you have a history of hitting kerbs. You could end up with a bill for courtesy car repairs as well.

Some SkoDa dealers are brilliant some are rubbish.
I assume Vindis is your dealer?
if so write to the two top bods.
From the internet.
'In 2020, Vindis Group celebrates its 60th Anniversary. We are proud to look back at the foundation of our business, which is still family-owned and with Gary Vindis as our Chairman, and Jamie Vindis as our Managing Director'.
I must ask why you keep hitting curbs though!
I have driven all my life and when working I was 'on the road' for 16 years doing 30K miles a year.
I have hit a curb twice once when I was 18 and a rear tyre burst (not my fault) and last year when I was driven off the road by a white van! (not my fault)
If the air bags deployed it must have been a hell of a bang!!

Hi,

Just joined the forum.
I'm based in Cardiff and have owned a 2017 Kodiaq EditionTDi 190 DSG 4WD from new. It's had no problems apart from one of the door protectors popping off! We are a Skoda family - my wife drives a Karoq and my daughter is waiting for delivery of her new Kamiq.

Hi Peter, hope you find us a mostly friendly and helpful bunch here - lots of useful tips!
You'll find a fair few who just don't get on with the door protectors and some even deliberately remove them. There's also a decent thread here somewhere that gives decent instructions on how to put them back on fairly easily. I'm sure someone more tech savvy than me will post a link to it...
In 2 years of ownership I've not (yet!) had any problems with them and on balance find they're OK and would rather be with them than not.

Hi all,
Took delivery of my 6 month old black Kodiaq 2.0tdi 150 L&K a couple of weeks ago. I'm a newbie to Skoda and a newbie to forums so I'll get my excuse in now in case of any errors So far I'm am totally in love with the car. I bought it remotely due to covid restrictions, did a mountain of research and had narrowed it down to 3...xc60, LandCruiser and the Kodiaq. Had to rely on online reviews and videos and just gut instinct. I was swapping in an Evoque, a mistake purchase but nice car all the same. I have a few questions for which I'll find the right page. The perils of buying remotely and not getting to iron things out with the dealer who is spasmodic in replying to emails. Anyway, looking forward to gathering more knowledge and sharing the experience of Skoda ownership.
Cheers for now.

Welcome to another member deserting Land Rover as a brand. I had a Disco Sport before my Kodiaq and whilst it was a lovely thing to drive and sit in, it had too many compromises, spent too much time back in the dealer fixing a never-ending list of minor faults and the dealer was rubbish and didn't really care about their customers. Like you, I'd say that me buying the Land Rover was a mistake in hindsight (although isn't that a wonderful thing...!)

I came back to VAG 2 years ago having had a string of Audis and VWs in the past and haven't regretted it at all. My car has been to the dealer three times in 2 years - services 1 and 2 and an aircon service (shame it didn't tie in with the 2nd service).

Hi All,

Just to introduce myself, I own a business grey 2.0 tdi 190 edition with black leather, ex demo (one of the first in the country I was told). Registered 31/07/17 and I purchased shortly after. Took delivery on 2400 miles and currently on 65000 miles... ish. Optional extras include;

-Canton Audio
-Retractable tow bar
-360 camera
-Tablet holder things
Cant remember the rest...

Cant say I have had trouble free motoring but have to say the dealership I use have been fantastic is resolving issues big or small.

Biggest issue resulted in new DSG transmission 6-9 months ago

Car recovered to dealer today due to overheating and suspected water pump failure... Hopefully extended warranty should cover this and I will get belt and tensioner changed at the same time out of my own pocket I think.

Considering changing the car now but part of me thinks I would be mad considering;

New DSG transmission (Warranty)
4 new cross climate tyres
rear discs and pads 12 months ago (Warranty)
front pads and discs 3 months ago

Anyway... Look forward to using the platform until I decide what to do..

Gary
