To connect mine I have turned on the wifi tethering on my iPhone and connected via that in the settings (entering the password etc) on the car (think the option is wifi tethering on the menu)

It now connects each time I get in with tethering active on my phone

Is this not what the £400 extra for 2 years is for ?

So what is included.

I do t get why it doesn't have a sim slot (unless someone can confirm it in uk). I am getting a Columbus.

If I want to track my car, it's a bit silly if I have to have my phone connected to it

So it should have a sim slot or use a phone, but I've seen other uk peeps saying to slot

My UK SE-L has no SIM slot - deck in passenger's glove-box.

To be honest, unless you're a business user needing vehicle location, or your passengers need video streaming I can't see the point of internet connectivity beyond usual decent phone data.

Can anyone convince me otherwise? At the moment I've tethered it to my phone for assessment, but when driving can't find anything useful to do with it.

As I mentioned in another thread, I asked my dealer who basically said there's no SIM Card slot in UK spec cars, the online 'Infotainment', which is I believe they are calling it, is built in and free for the first year, then chargeable after. He even showed me the full option spreadsheet to prove it.

My dealer confirmed no sim slot too, but also mentioned that there is one built in somewhere for using services such as the emergency call and find my car etc

There is a specialised SIM built into the car for the Connect services. Infotainment online requires an extra data plan - either via a tethered mobile phone, rSAP connection to phone or SIM card in slot of head unit in glovebox (if fitted).

I ordered 3 years infotainment online with phonebox on my Edition, not sure what I'll get though - especially as Editions are meant to come with the phonebox.

Phonebox is ment for wireless charging and extending signal to external antenna.

LTE module is needed for extra SIM usage.

3 years of infotainment services offers you map updates & information like weather, parking, Google Earth, etc. Unfortunately those paid services still need data exchange and data plan is needed (via smartphone's hostspot, rSAP or own external SIM that must be put into LTE module).

I didn't see any point of infotainment services. It's got Android Auto, and all those features work via Android Auto anyway.
