Are instances of the DSG gearbox failing common ?
Or do you have to be very unlucky
My warranty runs out in 12 months do Skoda extended warranty’s cover things like gearbox failures

Wigasaurus. Thanks for your reply and cost information which certainly gets me thinking. You've had a positive outcome. It's heartening that your Skoda garage is showing goodwill.👍. It's not something which would apply to me. I've done double your mileage. I always said I'd buy another Kodiac, having been very pleased with the build quality and performance. This development has, sadly, made me think again. Good luck with your repair. GS.

Like yourself I’m thinking of going back to Kia
As their warranty is 7 years and pretty well covers everything
My last Sportage suffered steering rack failure at 5 years of age
Kia replaced it without a quibble
