Battery Replacement

Hi, may I please ask if anyone has an experiance with battery replacement on Skoda Kodiaq 2.0l diesel, 190hp, 4x4. I want to replace it my self and wondering what chalenges I may get? are ther any wanring light apearing after and is ther a way of clearing those off without going to Skoda garage?

Make sure you get the correct AGM/ EFB battery and replacement is reasonably simple. You do need VCDS or similar to code the new battery to the car though.

BTW, it will be either an EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) or an AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery - it should say on the side of the battery. Neither are cheap, but both are designed to work with cars with a stop-start system. If you have an AGM battery from factory, then it's not recommended to replace with an EFB, but you can replace an EFB with an AGM (afaik - someone might know more?).

UK prices are around the ÂŁ200-ÂŁ220 mark for something like a Varta, Exide or Bosch, but you can find cheaper.

If you didn’t code in the new battery the BMS may not recognise that a new battery is fitted and will continue with the charging regime it had adapted to for the old battery and you may end up needing a new battery sooner than if it had been coded correctly.
