Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

Hi All, Thanks for your contribution. Just a quick update: -- Police are in receipt of the NIP form we have sent back. As it has turned out it is not with a case officer yet as they are gathering data from other people. We were told that we should not expect anything in the next few weeks given that...

Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

The Skoda connect portal intimates certain data tags are collected and sent to google analytics. Not particularly clear on what data is used but potentially location tracking could be there. Equally the on-board sim and if installed infotainment sim may well have cell location stored with the mobil...

Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

Something about this just doesn’t ring true. On the NIP’s it must state the date , time and location of the offence as well as the nature of the offence, in this case it would be either dangerous driving, careless driving or leaving the scene of an accident (or a combination of these three). The NI...

Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

Hi Everyone, Sorry for being absent for a while -- as I see I should work hard to keep up with the developments here... ;) Thanks for all the advices and thoughts, we obviously consider and exhaust all of them. I think I will reply to some of them separately. What we have done on our side in the mea...

Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

Is it a notice of intention to prosecute that you have received, or just an enquiry? If the police did not have witness the accident, they will be relying on details provided by someone else - in which case, it is most likely to be a genuine mistake. Either way, you do not have to prove your innoce...

Re: Is this jack right ?

I’ve just been looking to get a new trolley jack adapter for the kodiaq and was asked to take a picture of the original jack supplied with car . I have canton with the space saver kit but jack looks very dangerous only a very shallow wide indent for the sills ? Surely this could easily slide about ...

Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

To be fair, the Police are human and occasionally get it wrong. I was pulled out my house once and accused of having false plates - the car should have been an Audi A3, apparently (it was a Vauxhall Astra) - this after they drove past me on the way home. Turned out, they had keyed the number plate ...

Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

It might also be worth looking at your phone's location, if you have it available. Using an android phone I can see where I've been on a map in my google account. Yes, that is right, hopefully they will accept that (though it can be considered as last resort only as our phones' locations do not rea...

Re: Car movement data -- is it registered/stored somewhere?

Thanks, I will check it with our Skoda dealer.

Re CCTV -- that was our first idea but I don't think any of our neighbours have cameras (if they do, all should be hidden), I cannot recall that I saw a single one even in this street... :-(

Re: Usb socket

I have not checked it with a current meter, what I can confirm is that (older) mobiles get charged through the USB port. For the dashcam I would suggest to use the cigarette lighter, that is what I do -- actually my dashcam came with a cable for the lighter socket. Please note that the original 'sta...
