Re: Door protection thingy. Gripped. UPDATE. Page 5.

Thanks Kenny R -- I finally got around to checking out the link you sent to the video of the guy using a screwdriver to pull out the piece in order to re-secure the protection thingy (www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXwHenzyIWA) and it seems to have worked -- at least for now, it's retracting fully once ag...

What does the car infotainment say? You should be able to see how many Kms/days until the next service.
Hi O&G,

I couldn't find this info in the infotainment (neither playing with the system or in the manual), please point me to it!

Thanks,
JR

Re: Door protection thingy. Gripped. UPDATE. Page 5.

No need to take it to the dealer. It's a three month old car with a fault. A phone call to the dealer, or to Skoda UK, is a cheap and convenient way to place on record that there is a fault at this early stage, even if you want to wait for the first service to have it investigated. What sort of mil...

Re: Door protection thingy. Gripped. UPDATE. Page 5.

So that's a warranty issue! From the many posts I've read here, it sounds like Skoda doesn't fix these under warranty. I'm certainly not going to make a special trip to the dealer garage for this. I guess I'll ask them when I take it in for its first service, probably still three months away. Thank...

Re: Door protection thingy. Gripped. UPDATE. Page 5.

Whose door are they trying to protect? Mine or the car my door might hit? ... I make a point of never touching them and just let them do their thing. I think they protect both - if you accidentally open your door into a brick wall, for example, you would scrape off the paint on the edge of the door...

Re: Door protection thingy. Gripped. UPDATE. Page 5.

If people watched the video I made with the help of Beardface I honestly believe it would save quite a few people money and if not a hell of a lot of time! Hi Chris, please send here the links to pages with your video, instructions, etc. This forum wouldn't let me search your posts for words like "...

Re: Door protection thingy. Gripped. UPDATE. Page 5.

Since O&G's tip at the beginning of the week, mine has been working OK again. Hopefully they will all continue working properly. Unhappy to report that the driver's door won't close anymore without this piece jamming in the door frame. It lasted a week since my last "fix", but now I am not managing...

Re: Door protection thingy. Gripped. UPDATE. Page 5.

Since O&G's tip at the beginning of the week, mine has been working OK again. Hopefully they will all continue working properly. And I spoke to the wife and kids about being careful not to push, pull, bang or hook them, just in case.
