Re: Scratches on B pillar plastic

I would polish the pillars with a finishing polish then protect with a suitable ceramic.

Thankyou. I've stuck clear Gorilla tape over the offending area which is currently staying stuck and doing the job.

Re: Which oil

This is assuming that a 2018 1.4Tsi requires the same oil as my 2018 2.0Tsi. I wanted to get a container of spare oil to keep in the boot. Like you, I couldn't determine exactly which oil I should buy, so I went to my dealer and asked. They informed me that I should use the VW 508 spec, but they did...

Re: Maximum size of roof box?

The roofbox size you mention will fit without fouling the rear hatch. On normal roof bars (your first example) the box will fit easily. On your second example, you'll have to find out the distance between the thicker ends of the bars to see whether your box will fit. I've never owned a roof box, but...

Re: Automatic parking brake feature - some thoughts

The only time I find that this feature interferes is during parking maneuvers. When making small movements, I want to be able to take my foot off the pedal so that the car can inch forward in idle. When you're forced to tap the gas pedal to get moving each time, it's too easy to give a bit too much...

[quoteOr do we just assume that some people are simply too moronic to notice/do anything about it? In which case they deserve to get ripped off.][/quote] I'm not sure about moronic, but dinosaur springs to mind -maybe they're the same :( We have a friend who's so entrenched in the past and can't get...

Re: Whats you your favourite tip/ feature?

Other than that, I'm looking for a decent storage solution for spare change - I usually keep a decent amount of coins in my car for car parks etc. but there's nowhere in the Skoda that's an obvious easy storage to just chuck a good amount of loose change, there only seems to be a slot in the remova...

Re: New user, new car

I'm of the opinion that there is no such beast as the perfect car. If there were, we wouldn't have the need to keep changing them ;) With regard to the plastic bumper, I had someone reverse into my bumper within two weeks of ownership. The bumper deformed slightly and then reformed with just a bit o...

Re: Martin Clunes' trip to the U.S. Islands

No real Kodiaq’s then

Loads of'em and not a virtual cockpit in sight :o Plus you can have any colour you like as long as it's brown :D

Most enjoyable programme, I hope the rest follow in similar vein.

Re: Moving to Skoda!

With 2 WD, let a few pounds of air out of your tyres to get up the hill, you'll get more traction that way.
Just be sure to put it back in ASAP.

Re: MY VERY FIRST CAR

The free wheel Old Man was a bit hairy.......I was a fairly new driver and engaging it saved petrol but lost engine braking. Considering the brakes weren`t up to much and I hadn`t taken a driving test I remember that - hairing south on the A1 and approaching a roundabout - take foot off the acceler...
