Re: 1.5 TSI Update Please

Haldex type sisters rely on a front wheel spinning to 'switch on' drive to the rear wheels and to make it work you have to do what should not be done in a sticky situation.......raise the revs! Often causing more spinning of the front wheels. That is true of older versions of Haldex, but not true o...

Re: MY20 versus MY19

Fortunately everybody is different. It would be a tedious world if everyone is the same. My previous car had 140bhp and fully laden on autoroutes could not maintain the speed limit on hills - dropping to 3rd gear at times. That makes long journeys far longer and tiring for us than I would like. Pers...

Re: SIM card purpose

I knew exactly where I was. But the RAC man didn’t. I had to tell him. And “8 miles past Royston on the way to Granny’s house” didn’t do it for him. Up to you what you insist your passengers do. Mine have a little more freedom, and I’m quite happy with them getting their homework done rather staring...

Re: SIM card purpose

Young people today must wonder how us older folk ever managed. Well we did and we didn't feel like we were merely managing. Yup, I remember managing just fine when the head gasket blew on my car and I had to trudge through the rain to find a phone box and then try to explain where I was, before han...

Re: Variable interval servicing and fixed-price service plans

I will check the paperwork later. Mine was the “2 free services” deal that Skoda UK were offering last year, which may or may not be different to the fixed price service deal.

My biggest problem with SIM cards integrated into the vehicle is that one can be tracked.
You might want to remove your registration plate too. Number plates are routinely scanned and tracked by automated systems in the UK.

Re: Variable interval servicing and fixed-price service plans

If it helps, when I bought mine it came with the two free services offer. My dealer has honoured it as one service at 18k miles 9 months, and the next service at 36k miles due next month (17 months ish).

The only thing I’m paying for is to have the DSG oil changed as an extra.

Re: SIM card purpose

So I can browse the internet whilst driving? Clearly that's not something I want to do. Does it create a wireless hotspot in the car though? So my kids can use their tablets on longer drives? Yes, it allows the 6 other people in the car who are not concentrating on driving to “surf the net”. It als...

Re: Understanding Skoda Connect Licenses and Having a Data SIM in the car

You need an Infotainment licence (first year is free) *and* a data connection so that it can get the data. The only ways it can get the data is by connecting to your home Wi-fi, a hotspot from your phone, or a SIM you provide. Without a live data source, it is not much use.

Re: Understanding Skoda Connect Licenses and Having a Data SIM in the car

From your list, all the Care Connect functionality is handled by the car’s built in SIM. All the Infotainment Online functionality is handled by the data SIM that you provide (or by connecting your car to your phone’s data connection). So you only need to fit your own SIM if you are wanting to use I...
