Hi
My Kodiaq is 14 months old and the battery has just failed. I have heard of other Kodiaqs having the same problem but was interested in seeing how many others had encountered the problem and if the replacement battery was made under warranty.

Thanks

That thread will cover it for you. I have had the same issue and it's a known problem on 2017 builds. I have had the battery and a management module replaced under warranty. Two visits as they only did the module first time but both need changed. Don't let them just do one and not the other.

If you need any further advice or information please PM me and I will be as helpful as I can.

Thanks for that, the thread is very helpful. Unfortunately the dealership are blaming the wiring on a tow bar for draining the battery without any evidence as far as I can tell at the moment, hence they say it isn't a warranty repair as the tow bar doesn't comply with Skoda standards. I am fighting this as it is almost £300 for a new battery and fitting!

Get the Exec Office involved at Skoda Customer Services as this is a known issue and unless the can prove it's the tow bar then they can't argue otherwise. Don't let them get away with it.

Dealers tend to be useless. Several times now I have had dealers overruled by the Exec office. Let us know how you get on and if (I doubt) I can help by supplying evidence it's a known issue I will be glad to do so.

It was all going so well!

After my first service in Sept, I have been getting low voltage warning messages and random things not working : kessy, interior lights, start stop etc.

I had it booked in for it to be looked at week after next as had been getting progressively worse, I guess I will need to call Skoda assist now...

Exactly the same as me, all ok until the first service and then it all went wrong (battery warnings, start/stop failed, wouldn't start, stranded family, etc.). Get it into a dealer and get both the battery and management module replaced under warranty. It's a well known fault now.

Given what owners have said above, how long would you expect a Kodiaq battery to keep its charge when the car is not being used? And in particular, as the weather turns colder? We began to have issues with a 1.9TDi Octavia (2005 vintage) when leaving it for longer then 4 weeks whilst travelling abroad. In the end, I took to disconnecting the battery if we were away longer than a fortnight (no alarm, of course, but we live in a low crime area, thank goodness). Is this possible on the Kodiaq?

Never had an issue during the winter last year but it hardly got much below -12c so quite a mild one. Before the service I had no issues as others so I am unsure why a service would show the problem.

I have found this article which may help people who are having the same issue:

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/skoda/kodiaq/first-drives/skoda-kodiaq-long-term-review

As a side note, I was very impressed with the Kodiaq's ability in snow, better than I expected considering I was using standard fir summer tyres.

Thanks FA. Minus 12, eh? Not normally an issue in balmy Bristol. However, car needed a jump start today. The problem may be down to us doing a series of frequent, very short journeys (which we would normally walk since it's only half a km but have had a big knee op recently).

I would argue that short frequent journeys are just a way of life and if the car cannnot cope then it's not fit for purpose, i have no doubt it's a fault with the battery and management module.

We get down to -22c here so -12c is quite tropical.

Mine went into the dealer awaiting a new battery on back order...

They have given me a 3.0tdi Toureg R Line as a replacement. That's going to be hard to give back...

When they lost my Kodiaq in Emden for a month they lent us a 3.0litre Q7, to be honest I didn't really like it and as daft as it sounds I prefer the Kodiaq.

Had the car back for a week now, having had a brand new battery. No issues so far... (you all know what will happen now. Shall I prebook the hire car now?)

I've had the AA out 5 times in the last 2 weeks (18 mth old car). They say these MOLL brand of batteries are useless. My Skoda garage has told me they can't get me a replacement as there's none in the UK - which would seem to indicate a bit of a problem nationally. Anyone know more about this?

Mine was a MOLL battery - will have to check what the replacement is. Had to wait 4 days for the new one to turn up at the dealer.

Had my kodiaq for 14 months and around 3 wks ago it failed to start. Had to get jump leads to start it but decided to buy a battery booster from Halfords(as it turned out one of my best decisions) . Spoke to dealer and appointment was made to take car in to the garage. My car is a personal lease. Having had it for the day i was told that it needed a software update which had been done and that the car had been charged while it was in there. It started ok for 5 days but failed to start again. It started with the battery booster but the 2nd time in the day it wouldn't and the AA came out on behalf of skoda and said that the battery was finished and to take back to dealer. It went back to the dealer in 5 days in which only the battery booster got it started and after more tests the battery was replaced, they also saw a code which pointed to the fact that the front assist system had been set up incorrectly from the factory and was trickling energy from the battery. Move on 4 days to this morning and the car failed to start again, having been driving it throughout the day it has started every time. I've spoken to the dealer about replacing the management module but they claim to know nothing about it and seemed quite pi**ed off with skoda. Any advice on contacting skoda maybe from FoxtrotAlpha or anyone else. Thanks

No real advice on this one as my dealer replaced both the module and the battery although it took two visits and one breakdown to achieve it. First visit they quoted 5 days for new battery, second time they had one in stock.... almost like they were waiting for my return.

In the past with other issues I spoke to Skoda UK customer relations team and lodged a complaint as you should get a complaint handler assigned to it, I would however be direct with them but not rude, being nice doesn't get you far with them and nor does f'in and blinding at them. Make sure they talk to the dealer and not you to sort it out.

This is most definitely a warranty issue and Is well known, I am sceptical and I believe that some dealers play the "Skoda tells us nothing" card quite often.
