Just had my first service at 18000 miles and been told i am going to need new rear pads and discs yet the fronts are fine
Can anybody explain this as i always thought front disc would go first

I was advised the same at 1st service. "The rear discs are scored''. The service manager said the car is not doing enough miles and is very common too.

I wonder if the electronic parking brake is causing the pads to stick to the discs? 🤔

Is part of the pad sticking to the disc and causing the scoring? 🤔

Have you had any indication that the parking brake was not releasing completely on moving off? 🤔

To need new discs after 18k seems bad to me. I've got far more mileage than that on other cars. In fact my Santa Fe did 45k over 10 years and I had not changed the brakes before I sold it. A lot of local driving too.

My previous Superb did 55,000 with no need to change pads or discs. The prior Octavia did 77,000 before only FRONT pads and discs had to be changed.

Mine was only advisory and never had problem with electronic parking brake. To make it clear the service manager asked me to rub on the disc and I felt disc's surface is uneven and that caused the advisory.

Had a loose passenger door trim tightened last week and car is booked in again for next Monday morning to have the rear discs and pads changed under warranty due to severe scoring
