Hi everyone,

Very excited that my Edition 190 bhp auto is arriving tmr! A 16 month old one, but in perfect condition and has panoramic sun roof, canton stereo and parking camera/assist, all finished in the metallic white. Nice!

Look forward to exchanging ideas/advice with y'all!

Anyone else got the canton stereo upgrade? Any good?

Tom

I know some dont like the Canton (usually the older generation who still have 8 tracks) but I thnk its an improvement on the standard system, not as good as some top end systems but that said as an upgrade your not paying top end prices (expecially on a used car). It will take some setting to get to your prefered levels but I like it. That said on my Edition replacement the Mrs said I could have Canton or the virtual cockpit but not both, I went for the latter.

I've always had the "upgraded" stereo on my most recent cars, from Bose (Audi A4 & S4), Bang & Olufsen (Audi A5), Meridian (Land Rover Disco Sport) and now Canton (Kodiaq, obviously).

Overall I'd say the best sound for me was the Meridian system in the LR, but the Canton is very good with a good punchy base, but not too much. B&O was probably the most disappointing, but only because I expected it to be much better than the Bose and it was much the same.

I'd also agree with F-A that the Canton takes a little playing with to get the settings just right for me. I'd also add that at 'normal' volume levels, it probably isn't much better than the standard stereo, but turn it up a bit and it really comes into its own - definitely glad I've got it, but again have to agree with F-A that the virtual cockpit would probably win out if it came down to a choice between the two.

I find the bass a bit overpowering and lacks a bit of response so I wouldn't wind it up too much, I also have it set to front or driver as I never sit in the back... I know I'm bad.

Key thing to remeber is that the quality of the output is one thing but it's also the quality of the source that matters equally. If you play low bit rate mo3 then don't expect a dynamic response. All my music has been ripped as FLAC files to maintain quality, takes up more space but that's not an issue as Columbus can handle it.
