WI-FI and Skoda Connect

I just picked up my Kodiaq Edition on 26th Apr and have been trying to connect the WIFI and Skoda Connect without much success. I've managed to register all of my details to Skoda as per the email reply below, however each time I try to connect from the infotainment screen, it states Skoda Connect is unavailable. Do I need to be connected to a hotspot or is anyone experiencing similar issues

Yup. The embedded sim is only used for car stats.

All other services you'll need to tether your phone or use a vw car stick with your own sim inside.

FYI Just called the dealer... can't order the stick as it is a vw part. Though it is recognised on their system.

How stupid....

Bought my ŠKODA Kodiaq Edition 2.0TSI in June this year. Loving the car but I have very mixed feelings about ŠKODA Connect. I eventually managed to connect the Infotainment system by tethering to my iPhone's hotspot. I found the system very limited and it's obviously something you should use while the vehicle is stationary- which explains my very infrequent use. That being said when I do try to connect I'm often presented withe the "Service Unavailable"message. Furthermore (and this may be an iPhone problem) you have to reconnect the system with the hotspot every time you get into the car - it doesn't do this automatically. Another reason for my low utilization. I also experience regular problem with the ŠKODA Connect App. Initially It took several minutes for data to refresh but eventually it gave up altogether and my system did not update for a whole month. I contacted ŠKODA Customer Service who couldn't offer any solution and instead they said they would escalate to their technology team and get back to me. About a fortnight later data started to refresh again but I hadn't heard anything from ŠKODA in the meantime - can they fix remotely? Unfortunately when they fixed this problem my Infotainment system then refused to connect ...... the Service Unavailable error referred to above. It's really unfortunate that my first sojourn into ŠKODA,s much advertise connectivity solution has been so disastrous- certainly doesn't fill me with enough confidence to continue with any sort of paid subscription once my first year free period ends. Lastly - with any IT Service nowadays one should expect a reasonable amount of online support, answers, solutions etc. ŠKODA has none - so their offering is well below normal expectations for IT as far as I'm concerned! Has anyone else had similar experience because it's detracting from an otherwise enjoyable motor car?

My iPhone also doesn't seem to connect automatically. It seems to connect simply by going into settings on my phone, open personal hotspot then it connects without doing anything else. Personal hotspot it already activated. Bit if a pain!

Yes .. getting very frustrated with Skoda Connect app and portal which hasn't worked more than it has. Goes for weeks not updating journeys, status etc, then will come back to life for a couple of days unexpectedly then goes off again. Currently not updated the data since 30th Oct.

No problems with the wifi hotspot running off the inserted 3 sim. iPhone connects seamlessly within a minute of driving off.

use your phone or a data only sim lots of detail on this site about sim's etc

Hi! I got my Kodiaq today and i have problems with Skoda Connect. We registered to Skoda Connect at dealer and i got information of succesfull operation to my email. Problem is that i can't get any information of my K to Connect aplication to my Android phone or to my laptop. What could be wrong?

Hi! I don't know what i did but now all is working OK.
